The first six months of 2019 have come and gone.
By the end of July, van Rensburgs Auctions would have conducted 21 auctions for 2019, with 11 of those auctions being properties in the Southern Cape.
Considering the negative sentiment and concern amongst South Africans surrounding the property market, especially in the Southern Cape where many properties are considered “second properties”, we are positive about our property auction results. Seven successful auction sales took place, including a variety of residential (5), agricultural (1) and investment (1) properties.
So called “second dwellings” in Hartenbos, Outeniquastrand and Wilderness were all sold in the R 1 800 000 – R 2 000 000 price bracket. In Knysna, a vacant stand was sold for R 300 000 and an improved property for R 2 850 000. The agricultural property in George fetched R 7 000 000 whilst the investment property in Oudtshoorn was sold for R 2 900 000.
We are looking forward to the second half of 2019 and what the auction property market in the Southern Cape has to offer.
